Here are some examples of Block Planes available at hardware stores. I’ll put more examples up in time. The one on the left is the type I use. It just seems to work better for this application. The two on the right with the rotating dial type adjustment, well.. not so good. They just aren’t adjustable enough and make for a miserable carving experience.
